Materialise has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with aerospace distributor Proponent and aerospace design organisation Stirling Dynamics geared toward offering licensed cabin options for plane.
By combining their respective experience, the three corporations imagine they will assist the aerospace aftermarket with the design, manufacturing, and distribution of licensed 3D printed cabin components. It strengthens an present relationship between Materialise and Proponent that was fashioned in 2021.
A key a part of this enhanced collaboration is Stirling Dynamics’ EASA 21.J certification, which outlines the necessities and procedures for the design, manufacturing and approval of components, home equipment and supplies utilized in aviation. It enhances Materialise’s 21.G POA – a regulatory framework that governs the manufacturing of plane parts and programs – and Proponent’s standing as the most important impartial distributor. This, the three collaborators say, will serve to ‘additional decrease hurdles for OEMs and plane operators’ within the integration of such options.
Already, a number of cabin restore options have been efficiently developed between Stirling Dynamics and Materialise, fixing particular points clients face of their cabins. Proponent can now leverage its OEM relationships to develop OEM-endorsed and authorized options, making them obtainable to operators worldwide that face comparable points.

“By combining our respective experience, we’re creating a robust alliance with the abilities wanted to decrease AM adoption obstacles within the aeronautics trade,” commented Jurgen Laudus, Vice President of Materialise Manufacturing. “We current the chance to design, produce, and distribute licensed 3D-printed options, supporting the aerospace aftermarket in leveraging the distinctive advantages of 3D printing.”
Erik Krol, Proponent Vice President Strategic Enterprise Models, added: “With Stirling Dynamics becoming a member of our partnership, we are able to supply our OEM companions certified options that may simply be integrated into their aftermarket provide chain. Via this partnership, OEMs can ship spare components and repairs in an especially cost-effective approach, finally benefiting the airways and MROs.”
“We’re actually excited to be partnering with Materialise and Proponent to collectively carry the aviation market a real end-to-end service for plane modification and repairs,” supplied Bandula Pathinayake, VP of Stirling Dynamics. “As an EASA-approved Half 21.J Design Group (EASA.21J.807), we’re captivated with innovation, and we look ahead to making use of our intensive design capabilities to satisfy the distinctive challenges of aviation clients.”
